Passion, Purpose, Paws

Introducing our Board Members

Together we are driven and excited to help more people find the comfort and compassion

of a dog’s heart to help them through their own trials.

Kristi

Always by her side, Ally showed Kristi the world through a dog’s eyes. During their time together, they traveled the US raising awareness about Diabetic Alert Dogs (DADs).  Ally taught Kristi about love, hard work, and the importance of relationship. Kristi now takes that experience with her on a new journey with her dog, Epic, as they continue the work of advocating for service dog teams.

Dave

Dave enjoys taking his Chessies on frequent hunting trips. The dogs do more than hunt, though. Dave’s family has a history of diabetes and his daughter has epilepsy. His dogs alert to both conditions. Several puppies from his last litter are working around the country as DADs and Seizure Alert and Response dogs. Additionally, Dave and his Chessie, Gabi, are a nationally certified therapy team that has worked in hospitals, the Disney Cancer Center, nursing homes, and schools bringing joy to patients, residents, and staff with cool puppy tricks and lots of puppy love.

Hayden

Hayden’s DAD, Rose, has added a new dynamic to his diabetic care. She is his best friend and the designated “gofer” for his glucometer and Gatorades. While she is always happy to go for a ride or hang out at the office, she makes sure to always keep an eye on his blood sugar!

Diana & Ryan

This busy and fun-loving family is always ready for the next adventure with their daughter, Samantha, and her DAD, Hexum. As soon as they brought Hexum home, he became a member of the family. He helps hold Samantha responsible for managing her diabetes while being her best friend and her hockey buddy.

Robert

Robert is a father to four children, all of whom he loves dearly. He is an avid golfer and enjoys time with his family. While it was only recently that he entered the world of service dogs, he has a great passion for helping others—especially those in need.

Misty

Misty is the mother to Mason and stepmother to Jordan (who has 3 young ones of his own). Mason was diagnosed at 14 years old, a week before his freshman year of high school. A year into his diagnosis we were on our way to SLC to pick up Miley, his Diabetic Alert Dog. The 1st year was spent learning everything about T1D and the following year we added how to train a Diabetic Alert Dog. Miley quickly became one of the family and Mason's companion. She licks and nudges him at night when needed and retrieves a juice to treat lows. In the fall of 2025 I moved them both into the dorms at the University of South Dakota to begin college life.

Nicolle

Nicolle is a mother of four, whose youngest was diagnosed with diabetes at just 16 months old in 2023. Shortly after, she got her daughter a diabetic alert dog - Teddy. She has enjoyed training him, and has learned so much about herself in the process. Teddy fetches juice or milk for Layla’s lows, and brings her meter bag and does nose bops for high alerts. She enjoys family time (which always includes Teddy), being outside, and seeing the world through her childrens’ eyes.
